Two people died after a van struck into the rear of a tractor-trailer on Monday morning in Roane County, Tennessee.

The crash took place around 8:15 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 40 near mile marker 356 when a 63-year-old driver named Robert Rich of Rockwood and a 39-year-old passenger identified as Adam Milburn of Rockford, Illinois were traveling on I-40 in a cargo van behind a tractor-trailer.

The tractor-trailer was slowing down because of lanes being closed for a different crash when the van crashed with the rear of the trailer.

Both Rich and Milburn died in the crash.

Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
