Two killed after vehicle crashes with semi-truck in Edgar County

Two people were after a vehicle attempted to pass a semi-truck on Thursday afternoon on Highway 133 just west of Paris in Edgar County, Illinois.

It involved an SUV, which was traveling east on Highway 133 behind a semi-truck driven by a 79-year-old identified as Dennis Grindley, of Urbana.

The driver of the SUV attempted to pass the semi-truck when it was hit by a second semi-truck traveling in the opposite direction driven by a 31-year-old identified as Andrew Shepard, of Charleston.

The driver and passenger in the SUV were pronounced dead on the scene.

Their identities were not released.

The drivers of the semi-trucks were not injured.

Illinois State Police is investigating the crash.
