The Detroit automakers and the United Auto Workers (UAW) said on Tuesday that fully vaccinated workers at their U.S. plants will not have to wear masks on the job starting from July 12.
General Motors, Ford Motor, Stellantis NV, and the union that represents their U.S. production workers said in a joint statement that those who have not been vaccinated will have to keep wearing masks at work.
Other automakers operating in the United States have already started to lift coronavirus pandemic mask mandates as the number of new COVID-19 cases have declined.
