It seems that Sauber’s financial problems are now beginning to emerge with recent claims filed by some of the suppliers of the company.
According to the report published by one of the Swiss business newspaper, around dozens of unpaid suppliers to the struggling Hinwil based team have filed claims, totalling to an amount of almost EUR 1 million. The report further states the suppliers had waited several months for their payments to be done, before finally lodging the claims against Sauber with the official Swiss debt register Betreibungs register.
However the founder of the company Peter Sauber was quoted saying, “We are very much in contact with our suppliers and make every effort to get out of this situation as quickly as possible.”
In fact the Swiss daily Tages-Anzeiger has also reported that the company may also owe money to engine supplier Ferrari, and needs to pump in an additional $ 30 million hole simply to complete the 2013 season.
There have been reports that Sauber is in talks with a financial saviour from Russia, but the latest rumour doing rounds is that there is also a possibility of a tie-up with an international Asian car maker on the table.
