Video: Gumball 3000 amazes car fans in London

by Ron Grant

We have here a video of the kick off of the Gumball 3000 for 2010 at the Pall Mall London last weekend. The lineup consists of uber expensive, luxury cars but you can see some clowns during the parade.

The Gumball event was initiated by the Maximillion Cooper back in 1999. It is not really a race but a showcase as the cars take a long route of 3,000 miles of public roads. Every year the rally takes a different route. Organizers would like to refer to Gumball as a road trip but some countries are not very fond of the rally. There were cases when the drivers were fined for speeding and worse, cars were impounded. Back in 2007, the run was cancelled because of an accident that resulted to a death and one sent to the ICU.

The Gumball 3000 has Amsterdam at its first stop. It will pass through Copenhagen, then Stockholm, roar engines in Montreal, Toronto, and ends in New York.

There is an entry fee of £30,000 if you want to join the adventure. This year they offer car owners to join either the US or European leg for £12,000.
