Volkswagen AG is creating making masks in China for distribution to Volkswagen plant workers in Europe, the German automaker stated on Thursday as it plans to resume European production.
Volkswagen will be able to produce 1.6 million masks monthly in the coastal city of Tianjin, where it has auto plants with partner FAW Group.
It plans to send the first delivery of masks to Germany at the start of May, the company stated.
About 151,336 people in Germany have been confirmed as being infected with the coronavirus. The virus has killed 5,367 people in the country.
