Honda Civic Type R to have 265 hp engine

by SpeedLux

Honda has disclosed its plans that it will start the testing process of the 2015 Civic Type R on the German race circuit later this year.

The company declined to further elaborate about the model, but made sure that development is progressing ahead. Honda also dislcosed that the Civic Type R will use technologies borrowed from the World Touring Car Championship Civic.

When asked about the model, Honda UK Boss Dave Hodgetts told a leading magazine that the car will have at least 265 bhp (198 kW) but there are plans to have an output of 300 bhp (224 kW). It remains vague whether the car will be powered by a turbocharged 1.6- or 2.0-liter engine, but there are reports that indicate the latter one is more likely.

Irrespective of final figures, Honda expects that the Civic Type R will claim the front-wheel drive lap record from the Renault Megane RS Trophy which recorded a time of 8 minutes and 7.97 seconds.

Let us wait and see which engine is selected but in the meantime let us enjoy the picture gallery.
