Porsche 911 GT3 RSR 2011: a beast on the track!

by Adrian Hayden

Porsche’s best GT car has just made its debut at the “Night of Champions” party at the R&D Centre in Weissach, which took place just as the motorsport season is ending. Porsche really celebrated the arrival of the 2011 version of this car, as the vehicle’s performance has been increased in many ways. For example, Porsche has altered the aerodynamics and the suspensions for the new model. The engine has also been improved: the 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine, which generates 455hp at 7,800 rpm, is an improvement compared to the previous model’s 450hp. The power increase is due to an improved engine management system, exhaust system and air intake housing. Al of these improvement help the new car to have an improved handling.

Also for handling, the front lip has been modified to improve downforce on the front wheels. The diameter of the wheels has been increased form 11 inches to 12 inches in order to minimize understeer. To keep the air flowing on the car, the rear wing’s shape and design have been optimized and the rear lid has been modified.

The new RSR has LED rear lights, resembling to those the street legal 911 had. The Porsche Motorsport lineup has three top models: the 911 GT3 RSR, the 911 GT3 R and the 911 GT3 Cup. The 911 GT3 RSR will set you back EUR 410,000. If you already have a GT3 RSR, you can only buy a kit that will improve the performance of your 2010 RSR model.
