Two people died and three were injured after a car crash on I-15 in Davis County, Utah.
A man, aged 38, named Myron Millsap Barlow, of Bluffdale, was booked into the Davis County Jail. He is dealing with an investigation of two counts of DUI vehicle homicide, three counts of DUI causing serious injury, DUI, driving with an open container in his vehicle, and following the vehicle in front of him too closely.
At 8:30 p.m., a load of canvas bags dropped from a catering vehicle onto I-15 near Burton Lane. This caused at least two other vehicles to either come to a stop or slow down.
Barlow, who was driving a Ford F-250, couldn’t stop his truck in time and struck into the back of a Toyota Prius, which in turn was pushed into a Chevy Malibu, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
A man and woman inside the Prius were pronounced dead on the scene. Another man was flown to a local hospital in critical condition. Two people who were in Malibu were also admitted to a local hospital in serious conditions.
The south lanes of the freeway were shut for hours the investigation was conducted into the crash.
The traffic was being diverted off 200 North towards US-89 for the time being.
