Audi recorded its best sales figures in the US in the month of May 2011. In fact, this May has been the third best month for Audi in the US since it started operations in that country. For the number crunchers, the increase has been by 13.6 percent with the number of vehicles sold during the month being 10,457 units. Audi had declared during the opening of their plant at Chattanooga that they would consider opening a factory in case sales figures so warranted. Audi has been seeing a rise in sales of their cars and May has been the cherry in their cake so far.
The Ingolstadt based company attributed their rise in sales to the introduction of the A7 model which found 812 buyers during the period. This accounted for more than half their total sales figures of the month of May. The other model from Audi that make for their hot sales are the A3, the A4, the A8, the Q5, the Q7, the R8, and the TT. Audi sold 99 units of its R8 which translates into 135.7 percent year-over-year sales figures.
As per the president of Audi America, Johan de Nysschen, Audi is still able to make “measurable gain” in the high-end segment of luxury car market in the US. He also added that using the most advanced technology available in building their cars has also helped them penetrate deeper into the markets. In fact, Johan de Nysschen exuded confidence Audi would soon be the highest selling car in US in the luxury segment.
