The 2012 Dodge Charger is powered by a 6.4L V8 that produces 465 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. Those (coincidentally equal) number are 5 down from the Challenger in each category, but the previous Charger SRT8 only had 425 horsepower and 420 lb-ft from a 6.1L V8.
The new SRT8 is capable of going from 0 to 60 in 4.8 seconds, and hit a top speed of 175 mph. That is pretty impressive for a four-door sedan that weighs 4350 pounds.
The rest of this car isn’t as exciting as the new engine, but it’s still worth reading. The transmission is five-speed automatic, as in the previous model, but now there are paddles mounted on the steering wheel.
The car looks great inside and out. The outer design is looks aggressive thanks to the blacked-out grille and center section. The 20 inch wheels are forged of aluminum – and they look great. The new spoiler also gives the car the “bad boy” look.
On the inside, the news are the flat-bottomed steering wheel and a special trim for the IP and shifter surround. The seats are heated and cooled this time. The 8.4 inch touch sensitive screen controls everything you expect (video, radio, etc.), but also provides information about the car’s performance. The new 900-watt, 19 speark Harmann/Kardon stereo is also a nice feature of this car.
This car is great for a family, and for anyone trying to impress by driving a fancy car.
