Audi has decided to further strengthen their diesel engine lineup in the United States, but President of Audi America has just confirmed the future model A4 will get a TDI engine to begin with.
Divulging details to a well known magazine he said the company had a plan earlier to offer a diesel engine in the A4 but coming this far in its life cycle, it didn’t make any sense to do all the engineering stuff again for the car to have a two-year selling period.
Irrespective of anything, the executive confirmed that the 2014 model will be offered with a 2.0-liter TDI engine that could produce 184 HP (135 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. He also disclosed that the company was considering a 3.0-liter TDI engine but the company had second thoughts that sales would be too low to favor the investment.
