It is already four years since the A7 Sportback debuted. Audi has unveiled the facelifted model now, bringing a fresher look, along with new engine configurations, new transmissions, new headlights, taillights and new infotainment systems.
Typical to Audi, the visual changes are not very big and include new singleframe grille, bumpers, tailpipes, headlights and taillights. LED technology is now standard with Matrix LED headlights optional, which light the road optimally without causing glare for other road users. The Matrix LED headlights also come standard with dynamic turn signals. At the rear they are standard.
The A7 Sportback is offered with a choice of five engines: two gasoline and three diesel units ranging from 218 hp to 333 hp.
The 3.0 TDI clean diesel with 272 hp has been updated and in the “ultra” version with 218 hp and front-wheel drive, the three-liter V6 uses an average of just 4.7 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (50.0 mpg). Very impressive for a big car like the A7.
The S7 continues to use a 4.0 TFSI with 450 hp using innovative COD (cylinder on demand) technology.
The 3.0 TDI biturbo clean diesel is linked to an eight‑speed tiptronic transmission; all other engine configurations have a seven‑speed S tronic transmission mated to them.
As with most Audi models, the quattro permanent all-wheel drive can be supplemented with the sport differential, which actively distributes power between the rear wheels.
U.S. pricing has not been released yet, but the EU spec model will begin arriving at dealerships in late summer 2014 and its base price in Germany will be €51,300 for the A7 Sportback and €82,300 for the S7 Sportback.
