The IIHS called the Fiat 500X a “Leading Security Pick +,” its highest score. The only other FCA automobile to gain the ranking in 2015 is the Chrysler 200.
The Fiat 500X, which went on sale previously this year, comes outfitted with a 1.4 L, 160-horsepower engine with a six-speed manual transmission or a 2.4 L, 180-horsepower engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The small SUV was designed at the Italian brand’s workshops in Turin, and is being developed at Fiat’s Melfi setting up plant, where FCA also builds the Jeep Renegade.
The Fiat 500X begins at $20,000.
