Stellantis and unions have agreed to reduce 714 jobs at the automaker’s operations in Italy this year through voluntary redundancies, the UILM union said last week.

The deal is the same as the one reached by the automaker in France last week to cut a total of 2,600 jobs through voluntary departures over two years.

The move comes as the automaker looks to decrease excess capacity in Europe and adapt production to an expected shift in demand towards electric vehicles.

A Stellantis spokesperson confirmed the information from UILM union.
