Three people, including a 14-year-old, died after a car crash in the Florence-Graham neighborhood of South Los Angeles on Sunday night, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said.
The names of the victims have not been revealed as of yet.
Police report describes the victimes as three males that died at the scene and they were aged 23, 21, and 14 years old. All of them were passengers. Two other people were admitted to an hospital in minor to moderate condition.
The crash took place just before 11 p.m. in the area of S. Central Avenue and E. Florence Avenue.
Video from the scene shows firefighters around a black sedan next to a Wells Fargo Bank building.
Police report notes that the driver of a 2007 Toyota was speeding up when he lost control and struck into a jeep. The force of the impact then caused the jeep to be pushed forward and crash with another vehicle.
The Toyota continued to be out of control until it struck a building and then a pole resulting in one of the passengers being taken out from the car.
The person who was taken out and two of the passengers in the rear seat of the Toyota died at the scene. The driver was one of the two people taken to the hospital.
Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in this fatal crash.
Speed seemed to be a factor in the crash, according to CHP.
Initially, the crash report indicated that the driver of the Toyota, a 20-year-old Hawthorne man, was arrested in relation to the fatal crash, but CHP later retracted that and said the driver was in ICU and charges were pending.
CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said more law enforcement officers were called to the scene to help with a big crowd of about 100-200 people, some of whom became combative with officers.
