Four people died following a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday night at Interstate 55, Illinois.
Officials say a vehicle was traveling northbound on I-55 near milepost 122 before the driver lost control of the vehicle.
It was raining when the crash took place.
The vehicle then skidded throughout the median and into oncoming traffic.
The vehicle was struck by a Freightliner Truck-Tractor Semi-Trailer.
Officials say the semi then crossed the median and northbound lanes before it overturned on the frontage road east of Interstate 55.
Four people inside the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. It included a 47-year-old driver, a man from Washington, Illinois, and three teenagers including a 16-year-old and two 17-year-olds.
There was also a 13-year-old girl who was an occupant of the vehicle. She suffered life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi was admitted to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Identities of the victims were yet to be released.
