Nine people were killed in a head-on vehicle crash in West Texas on Wednesday.
About six of the killed were students and one person was a coach from a New Mexico university. They were returning home from a golf tournament.
The crash took place when a pickup truck crossed the centerline of a two-lane road in Andrews County and struck into a vehicle carrying members of the University of the Southwest men’s and women’s golf teams.
Two students were flown to a Lubbock hospital in critical condition.
The university said that it was working to notify family members of the involved.
Counseling and religious services would be available on campus, the university added.
Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
