We all know the German powerhouse Mercedes and how good they are at making cars. However, due to the recent dive of the economy, many auto mobile manufacturers have had to cut down on their manufacturing budgets. Because of this, many auto mobiles are being manufactured on the same platform of their other models so that the company would not have to develop newer platforms for each model and hence be able to save a whole lot of money which would otherwise be spent on making newer platforms for the cars.
Another auto manufacturer to join the fray is Mercedes Benz. The new Infiniti M and the Infiniti G from Mercedes were rumored to share the same platform as the Mercedes Benz E class, but this was not confirmed. However, a Japanese magazine ‘Best Car’ which initially claimed this development have now received confirmation that this is actually the case and the Mercedes Benz Infitni G and the Mercedes Benz Infiniti M will in fact be sharing the same models as the Mercedes Benz E class. This would save the firm around hundreds of thousands of dollars which would other wise be used up in developmental costs, and it would also save Daimler and Renault-Nissan a lot of money. Estimates are rumored to be at around $1 billion of savings every year if this model persists.
However, many are wondering if this is the right move for the new Infiniti M and G because the sleek car from Mercedes Benz already has a very powerful rear wheel drive and a platform which many consider to be much cheaper to build. However, Mercedes have decided to cut down completely on costs and enhance their savings by using the same platform that was originally developed for the Mercedes Benz E class a few years ago.
