Tesla Inc on Friday reported that it had delivered 201,250 cars, setting a new record even as CEO Elon Musk himself had previously urged workers to focus on meeting delivery targets.

This record comes amid the continued chip shortage crisis worldwide.

China continues to remain a vital market for Tesla. Tesla currently sells the Model 3 and the Model Y cars here.

The electric vehicles are manufactured in China at its Shanghai facility. This plant has also become a hub from where cars are exported to some European markets.

“Our teams have done an outstanding job navigating through the worldwide supply chain and logistics challenges,” Tesla said.
