A man and a woman were killed early Tuesday morning when their car struck into a tractor-trailer in Bergen County, New Jersey.
The identities of the victims in the crash were not released by North Bergen police.
They include a 24-year-old man from North Arlington and a 27-year-old woman from Bergenfield.
The crash took place at 2:13 a.m. on Tonnelle Avenue at 36th Street when a 2022 Kia Stinger driven by the 24-year-old was traveling south on Tonnelle Avenue at a high rate of speed before it swerved to try to avoid the 2021 Volvo tractor-trailer, which was positioned throughout all four lanes of the roadway to make an early morning delivery to one of the businesses there.
The vehicle hit the side of the tractor-trailer, behind a rear wheel, went under the trailer before it would come to rest some 30 to 40 feet past the truck.
The driver and the passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck driver was not injured.
