Ford Motor on Thursday said it will halt production next week at its plant in Flat Rock, Michigan because of a shortage of semiconductor chips.
Ford assembles the Mustang models in this plant which was originally opened in 1972 as “Michigan Casting Center”. Here, the automaker produced Mazda 6 in 2003, followed by Mustang in 2005.
The automaker said earlier this week that it had built about 53,000 vehicles but not is yet to ship them as they awaited final parts held up by the chips shortage.
