So what makes the Shelby tuned Mustangs great? Is it the Smoky burnouts, glaringly vivid power slides, brutalized rev-limiters, or V8 engines or just all of them? Well, perhaps all of them make it a super sports vehicle. While the automakers and customers have started respecting the necessity of preserving the environment, and have therefore, started to downsize engines; so must the tuning companies do the same.
If you were to go by the latest on the rumor mill then Shelby is busy exploring several different options for its future tuning packages for the Mustangs. Shelby is planning a new twin turbo package for the sports first 3.7 L V-6 engines, which is already a strong striker in the stock form. The twin turbo package can further improve the engine’s performance from the available 305 hp by providing it with the much needed low end grunt that it needs, something that can bring it to what V-8’s are capable of.
While the Shelby is busy collecting consumer feedback about its performance packages, if the project gets permission to proceed, you would be able to see the new Twin Turbo Mustang V-6 from Shelby in the concept car form. If everything goes well but still most likely to happen before the year is out. In the meantime, the ‘Shelby GTS’ name is already being heavily promoted and a brand is being created.
There is some good news for the BEA clients as well. The V-8 fans may also be conciliated as any Twin Turbo package should be in a position to transfer the bigger eight cylinder engines. However, this is not likely to require too many modifications to the engine. If it happens, you should soon be in a position to consider a new 600 hp Shelby running at even mild boost levels.
