Italdesign Giugiaro Presents the GEA Concept at Geneva

by SpeedLux

For those who recall, there were actually a number of teasers released already some time ago depicting the latest vehicle model from the automaker Italdesign Giugiaro. The teasers were meant to preview the GEA concept. Now, the car has actually made its debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. According to its creator, the GEA concept is actually nothing but a study for future luxury vehicles. Well, the car does look elegant indeed, but what does it have in store?

To begin with, the sedan mentioned above is well equipped with a self-driving technology. In addition to that, the car also comes with a set of 26-inch aluminum wheels made of a solid block. Even more uniquely, the wheels feature a total of sixty spokes altogether. This sedan is also known to utilize the magnesium and carbon fiber materials for the construction of its body panels. On the front and rear ends, the car features LED and laser lighting technologies inspired by the luxury German automaker Audi.

The Italdesign Giugiaro GEA concept gains its power from four electric motors. Every single one of these motors delivers 142 kW of power, resulting in 570 kW of total power output. Thanks to that, the car is capable of achieving a top speed of 250 km/h. The car also runs on a 375L battery which can have its juice recharged via the method of induction. Hence, there is no need for any electric sockets or cables whatsoever.

The GEA concept from Italdesign Giugiaro features book-type opening doors. When owners of the car step their feet into the cabin, they will be greeted by a red carpet. Passengers inside the vehicle will also benefit from 180-degree swiveling seats (front), dual 19-inch LED transparent display panels (rear), climate control and even a smartphone app specially designed in collaboration with the South Korean tech vendor LG. This app makes it possible for the driver to access the climate control feature, seat configuration, onboard infotainment system and even close or open the doors of the vehicle by means of a smartphone.

In the front compartment, there is a 12-inch display panel that provides such information as engine revs, battery charge, navigation, engine range and speed. There are even dual 3.5-inch display panels, each of which is located on the sides of the 12-inch display panel. These additional display panels function to display what the side cameras of the vehicle capture.
