The Metropolis Concept by Citroen somehow gives a hint of what is to come from the brand. Other luxury marques like BMW and Porsche can learn a thing or two in terms of designing a real eye candy sports saloon.
The humps and curves of the Metropolis have some hints of Citroen’s well received GT supercar that was shown as a concept back in 2008. The Metropolis is the creation of the design team of Citroen based in Shanghai. The dimensions of 5.3m in length, 2m in width, and about 1.4 meters in height make it pretty sleek.
The Pearl Silk finish is a very elegant finish. Not too loud not too dull. Under its hood is a hybrid plug-in drive train which combines a V6 2.0L petrol engine and an electric motor. All of the power of the engine is transferred to its wheels by a 7-speed electronic dual clutch gearbox.
Citroen explains that the Metropolis has a ZEV or Zero Emission Mode utilizing the power of the electric motor which can give a continuous output of 55 to 95 bhp. If you need to step on the pedal when cruising on the highway, the petrol engine can output 272 bhp with a torque of 375Nm.
The French carmaker also claims that the combined output of the combustion engine and the electric motor is about 460 bhp and a torque of 430 Nm. You can also switch onto a 4-wheel drive mode and opt for a Hydractive suspension.
This luxury sports saloon will definitely be catching some attention when it goes on display during the Shanghai World Fair this coming May through October in China.
