BMW’s official South African site has recently revealed the full official specs of the upcoming BMW 2-series which states that the model will be available in the guise of the 220i, 220d and high performance M235i.
First and foremost, the base model 220i will come fitted with the 4-cylinder 2.0-liter engine that generates 181 hp (135kW) and 270 Nm of torque. The car can achieve 0-100 kmph in 7 seconds and can hit a top speed of 235 kmph.
Next is the 220d that will be equipped with the 2.0-liter diesel mill capable of generating same 181 hp (135kW) and 380 Nm of torque. This model will be able to accelerate to 0-100 kmph in 7.1 seconds attached with automatic transmission gearbox and can hit a top speed of 235 kmph.
Last but not the least, the top performing model, the M235i, will come with the same 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six engine that also forms part of its 1-series sibling generating an output of 322 hp (240kW) and 450 Nm (332lb-ft) of torque. This will enable the model to complete 0-100 kmph sprint in just 4.8 seconds when fitted the automatic transmission, while the manual version will be 0.2 seconds lower. The top speed has been electronically limited to 250 kmph.
