Car crash leaves one dead, two hospitalized in Montgomery County

A car crash left one dead and two injured in Montgomery County, Maryland.

The crash took place on Sunday night just before midnight near Airpark Road and Muncaster Mill Road in Gaithersburg, where a truck and car crashed.

Detectives figured out that a Volkswagen Jetta was heading west on airpark road approaching Muncaster Mill Road and a dump truck was heading east when the Jetta left the roadway, became airborne, and crashed with the dump truck.

The front-seat passenger in the dump truck, named Jack Tyler Wert, 27, of Damascus, was admitted to a local hospital where he died due to his injuries. Both the driver of the truck and the driver of the Volkswagen is hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
