Possibility of a cheaper Chevrolet Volt exists as per sources that have conveyed the same to favstocks.com. The new Volt would be priced a nice $10,000 lower than the current one in the market and technology for production of such a Volt is available with Chevrolet and GM. Given its features the Volt from Chevrolet has been facing criticism for its high price tag. Consumer Reports, the watchdog of American auto quality have labeled the car to be an excess in price.
Chevrolet may take the lead given by Ford and go in for re-engineering in order to create a remake that would cost less by making more units. The present car does not make sense given its fuel consumption rate and the cost of the car per say, this as per Consumer Reports after having completed the test drive on the car. There is also the presence of Prius that can give the Volt a run for its money. With a moderate weather the plug in hybrid has a range of 40 miles which on any other day would be limited between 29 to 33 miles.
Though GM claims the range to be greater than 40 miles, Consumer Reports have said that they could only attain 27 to 27 miles in electric mode. The Prius therefore stands to be a better choice than the Volt. The Prius as per David Champion, the senior director of Consumer Reports auto testing center gives better mileage per gallon than the Volt.

What a fabulous prize for one lucky winner. Gorgeous Chevrolet! I wish the blog will become more informative in coming days.
The Consumer Reports gets referenced a lot but numerous Volt owners are getting high 30’s and low 40’s. I live in Chicagoland and am getting high 30’s. My first week with the car I drove ~155 miles and used 0.1 gallons of gas.
