warning signs that you need a tire replacement

If you’re like most people, you probably take your vehicle for granted. Your vehicle is a tool that you use every day to transport you and your family from point A to point B safely and efficiently. Unfortunately, sometimes drivers don’t give a first, second, or any thought to the condition of their tires. But what would you do if one of your tires went flat? Would you know how to fix it? It’s a good idea to be prepared for such an event by keeping some essential tire repair tools in your vehicle. In this article, shared by our friends at SimpleTire, we will detail some of the top most important tools that you should have on hand, in your vehicle, in case of a flat tire or emergency.

One of the most important tools that you will need is a tire jack. This is a device that is used to lift up your vehicle so that you can change the tire. If you don’t have a tire jack, it will be very difficult or nearly impossible to change the tire. Most vehicles come with a jack from the manufacturer but make sure to consult your owner’s manual.

Another essential tool is a lug wrench or tire iron. This is used to remove the lug nuts from the wheel. Without a lug wrench, you will not be able to remove the tire. When removing the lug nuts from your vehicle with the lug wrench, be sure to loosen the lug nuts prior to jacking your vehicle up off the ground.

If you are building a tool kit for your vehicle, you should also consider including a  patch and plug kit in order to repair the tire. The patch and plug kit will come with everything you need to fix a small hole in the tire. However, if  the hole is too big or in a bad location like your tire’s sidewall, you may need to replace the entire tire.

Lastly, you will need a good air compressor. This is used to inflate the tire after you have repaired it. Without an air compressor, you will not be able to properly inflate the tire and it may become dangerous to drive on.

Finally, the last remaining tools to consider adding to your vehicle’s tool kit would be: gloves, hand sanitizer, rags, blankets, bottled water, and a small set of tools that include a pair of pliers, screwdriver, monkey wrench, road flares, reflective vest, and whatever else you can fit.

These are just a few of the essential tire repair tools that you should keep in your vehicle in case of emergency. By being prepared, you can avoid a lot of hassle and stress if you ever have a flat tire. So, don’t wait until it’s too late, make sure you have these tools on hand before you need them.
