A crash involving an SUV and truck led the shut down of northbound Interstate 5 in Bellingham, Washington.

The crash took place after 3 p.m. on the interstate at Samish Way.

Troopers said the crash resulted in serious injuries, though identities of victims haven’t been revealed.

The drivers of the truck and travel trailer were changing a flat tire on the shoulder of the roadway when the SUV drifted and hit the truck and trailer. The couple was also hit and thrown into a ditch.

Officials set up a detour through Fairhaven Parkway to help traffic get through and later reopened one lane to enable traffic to continue moving.

I-5 was completely reopened after 7 p.m.

Washington State Trooper provided updates on Twitter.
