Quite a few camouflaged Mercedes SLS AMGs have been spotted on the roads in Europe and a latest report is indicating they are just prototypes being used to test engines for the upcoming SLC / C190 / AMG GT.
The report from an auto magazine states that the prototypes are likely to be equipped with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine and being run to test some of the cooling components. This sounds a bit peculiar since the company is already in the process of testing full-bodied AMG GT prototypes but remains a possibility rather than a confirmed component.
Mercedes has not revealed much detail about the model but the AMG GT is expected to be loosely based on the SLS AMG and is expected to weigh about 3300 lbs (1496 kg). It could be introduced as early as next year and can be offered with the aforementioned twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine.
Nothing confirmed officialy, but another report states that the engine will generate an output of around 500 hp (372 kW). They could also be a detuned entry-level model as well as a Black Series variant with an output of up to 600 hp (447 kW).
