Subaru to blame for the lack of a Toyota 86 / Scion FR-S sedan – report

by SpeedLux

Toyota and Subaru were very happy when they had launched the GT 86 and BRZ, but now a report indicates that there’s a dark cloud hanging over this future venture of Toyobarus.

Citing an unnamed insider, Edmunds is reporting that Scion has been pushing for a FR-S sedan but Subaru has been dragging its heels on it. Scion reportedly wants the model to go on sale in the year 2016 but its future still remains in doubt as Toyota and Subaru would have to agree to the project which has not yet happened.

In related news, Scion’s Doug Murtha confirmed that a new model will arrive for either the 2015 or 2016 model year. Murtha declined to give further details of what the model would be but the website believes it will be a redesigned version of xB. Two five-door hatchbacks are apparently under consideration and the company is yet to decide which one to offer in the United States next spring.

Well we cannot comment if Subaru is really responsible for this mess but all we can hope is that the problem gets solved soon and the partnership continues for a longer period.
