The next generations of the Subaru Legacy and Outback have been spied undergoing testing in Europe.
To be revealed next year as a 2015MY, just sometime back we saw Subaru’s superb Legacy concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show but we won’t get our hopes up too high as far as the production version is concerned. Quite frankly many were disappointed with the WRX production version after seeing the gorgeous concept, a situation which could happen with the Legacy as well.
In the images we can see both the Legacy sedan and the Outback version which are likely to receive a significantly toned down design. The prototypes featured a rectangular front grille, C-shaped taillights and the firm’s well-known symmetrical all-wheel drive setup.
The entry-level 2.5i model is likely to retain its 173 hp (129 kW) output and six-speed standard manual transmission with the option of selecting a CVT. There are rumors that suggest the 2.5GT will be brought back to life with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine from the 2014 Forester where it generated an output of 250 hp (186 kW). A hybrid model is also in the process and will likely serve as a replacement for the six-cylinder 3.6R version.
