Not many news come now regaarding a defunct car maker, and the ones that come are expected to be about its revival, which unfortunately, isn’t the case of Pontiac. The beloved but unsuccessful Pontiac G8 is infor a recall due to some safety issues, and to be more precise, some faulty, or rather unsafe airbags.
What is peculiar about all this story is the fact that the airbags aren’t expected to fail to deploy in case of an accident or anything of the like, the problem being good old fashion bureaucracy.
The Pontiac G8 does not comply with certain federal standards for head injury protection of its passengers. All units that have been built in 2008 and 2009 in Australia have this problem, and they sum up to no less than 38.444 units.
While the affected cars were manufactured in Australia, and the fault was identified in the Land Down Under as well, the recall is in fact focused on Pontiac G8s that have been imported to America only.
Until now, no accidents occured with none of the affected Pontiac G8 models, which makes it kinf of funny, since not even a single complaint has been filed against the Pontiac G8, and yet nearly 40.000 units will have been recalled very soon.
