SAIC is currently in the process of developing a new MG5 sedan as per one of the recent report released.
As of now not much detail is available, but as per the report by Car News China, the model will be based on the Roewe 350 sedan and could be launched next year. The car’s styling will likely be influenced by the hatchback, so we can expect an aggressive front fascia and a prominent character line.
The model is expected to come fitted with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that would develop approximately 127 hp (95 kW) and 147 lb-ft (199 Nm) of torque. It is quite likely to be connected to a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission which should help to improve performance and fuel efficiency.
It is not official yet, but European availability remains in doubt as higher ups are reportedly favoring the production version of the CS concept over the sedan.
