Luxury automaker Rolls-Royce saw its sales increase 49% to a record high in 2021 regardless of the global coronavirus crisis, as demand worldwide for luxury vehicles increased.
Rolls-Royce is a luxury unit of BMW.
Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös said the automaker sold 5,586 vehicles to customers in over 50 countries, the largest number in its 117-year history.
“In the luxury sector as a whole, the struggle was not so much focused on attempting to find consumers, but rather producing enough product to satisfy huge customer demand,” Müller-Ötvös said in an online conference.
He said sales hit all-time records in the majority of the regions, including China and the Americas.
