Teenage learner driver charged with 13 charges after ‘stolen car’ rams police van

A 17-year-old learner driver is dealing with 13 charges after a Victoria Police van was rammed in Melbourne’s east over night.

Policeman stated they noticed an apparently stolen car as they patrolled Warrigal Road in Burwood around 1:00 am.

Policemans followed the car into a car park and stopped behind it after it parked.

They declared the automobile was then taken into reverse and rammed the police van a number of times.

The policemans suffered small injuries in the incident.

The teen motorist, from Ashburton in Melbourne’s southern suburbs, was charged with theft of an automobile, conduct threatening life, careless conduct triggering severe injury, assaulting authorities and offences associated being a learner driver.

The teen was remanded in custody after appearing at an out-of-sessions hearing and will appear in the minor’s court on Monday.
