Three killed after car crash in Barren County

Three people were killed after a car on Happy Valley Road in Barren County.

The crash took place around 12:30 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of Happy Valley Road (KY-90) and Harry King Road.

A 74-year-old identified as Robert E. Purcell from Louisville was driving west when his car crossed the center dividing lane and into the path of oncoming traffic before it struck a pickup truck being driven by a 48-year-old identified as Matthew Webb from Bonnieville.

Both Purcell and Webb were pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in Webb’s vehicle, a 37-year-old identified as Matthew E. Shrock from Munfordville, was taken to T.J. Sampson Hospital in Glasgow, and later to Tri-Star Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.

Shrock later succumbed to his injuries.

Kentucky State Police is investigating the crash.
