Three people were killed on Saturday night after their vehicle was hit by a driver suspected of being under the influence of alcohol in Granada Hills, California.
The crash took place on the 118 Freeway at the 405 interchange transition road before midnight when a Mercedes coupe veered into a Mercedes sedan that was stationary in the right lane of the southbound 405 transition road.
It’s not clear why the vehicle was stopped.
The sedan struck a wall and engulfed, while the Glendale man’s coupe ended back on the 118 Freeway.
The three occupants of the sedan were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Glendale man was hospitalized with major injuries. He is being investigated on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol.
Identities of the victims were not released.
California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
