Three people are dead after an accident on Genesee Street in Buffalo on Monday.

The accident took place at Genesee Street and Kilhoffer right before 1 p.m. and involved two vehicles.

Buffalo Police Captain Jeff Rinaldo said two victims, an 18-year-old passenger and 61-year-old pedestrian struck by debris were admitted to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.

Rinaldo said two men and one woman died following a crash between a black mini-van and a white car. He said that based on witness accounts, speed was the major reason that resulted in the crash.

“It appears that one of the vehicles was traveling at an extremely high rate of speed when it hit the other one head on eastbound on Genesee street,” Rinaldo said.

A security camera at May Corner Store at the corner of May Street and Genesee caught the crash. It shows the second following impact when the mini-van and car crashed.

The store was blocked off for hours as Buffalo Police were probing the accident.

“It’s terrifying, it’s scary,” said May Corner Store worker Mosleh Alamer. “People should not be speeding during winter, they shouldn’t be speeding at all.”

Buffalo Police are asking if anyone has seen the incident or if they have details about it, then they contact at 716-847-2255.
