Toyota Motor on Wednesday posted record-high global production in March, as the production outside Japan helped overcome the decline at home.
The automaker produced 866,775 vehicles globally in March it said, showing an increase of 2.8% from the same month in 2021 and a monthly record.
The automaker experienced a nearly 16% decline in domestic production, to 261,759 vehicles.
Toyota’s domestic production was largely hit by a magnitude 7.4 earthquake in northeastern Japan because of which the automaker had to suspend output from nine plants in the country.
