Two dead after car crash on I-70 in West Jefferson

Two people died after a six-vehicle crash on Friday evening at I-70 East at West Jefferson, Ohio.

A pickup truck was driven by a teenager that rear-ended a car stopped in traffic, resulting in a chain reaction that resulted in a six-vehicle crash.

The first car hit engulfed and two people in that vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two victims included the driver, a 25-year-old identified as Kevin Wagoner from Dayton, and a 3-year-old passenger.

A 24-year-old passenger in the same car was hospitalized over non-life-threatening injuries.

Four others sustained injuries.

Officials found no evidence of alcohol to have contributed to the crash.

The crash resulted in the closure of the eastbound lanes from SR-29 to SR-142.

Ohio State Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
