Two people died and another was seriously injured in an accident on the Dan Ryan Expressway late Tuesday night.
Illinois State Police said, right before 11 p.m., a 35-year-old man from Chicago Heights was driving a black 2018 Chrysler in the southbound lanes of the Dan Ryan near 63rd Street when he lost control of the vehicle.
The Chrysler struck a sign pole, flipped over, and came to a stop on top of the concrete median barrier.
The driver and a 17-year-old passenger in the car were killed in the crash. A 16-year-old passenger was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
The southbound express lanes of the Dan Ryan were closed for about six hours following the crash.
