Two drivers were pronounced dead after car crash in Burnett County

Two drivers were killed following a head-on car crash Monday night in Burnett County.

Officials were notified of a crash around 7:50 on Monday night. While en route, another call came in for a head-on crash in the same area.

The crash took place on State Highway 87.

The driver was traveling northbound on the highway and before crashing, the driver pushed two other vehicles into the ditch when he was driving in the wrong lane. The driver also side-swiped another car traveling in the opposite direction.

The driver later hit another vehicle head-on while still driving in the wrong lane. The driver of that vehicle, identified as Daniel V. Ohnstad, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The suspected driver identified as Mark B. Erickson, 64, who was driving in the wrong lane was hospitalized and was later pronounced dead. 

The Wisconsin State Patrol investigated the crash.
