Two killed after car crash on Highway 401 in Clarington, Ontario

Two were killed and one was admitted to hospital after a crash on Highway 401 in Clarington, Ontario on Monday morning.

The crash took place just before 7 am, according to Ontario Provincial Police said.

A car was exiting highway 401 on the westbound ramp to the ONroute service center before it crashed into the back of a stopped transport truck pulled over on the right shoulder.

The 46-year-old driver and a 16-year-old boy sitting inside the car were pronounced dead.

A 5-year-old boy who was in the back seat was flown to the hospital to a trauma centre.

Westbound lanes of Highway 401 were shut as the investigation continued into the crash. These lanes were reopened later on.
