Two killed after car crash in Morris, Illinois

Two people were killed following a traffic crash that took place on Route 47 in front of the Grundy County Fairgrounds in Illinois around 1 p.m. on Friday.

A car operated by Sandra Viola, 75, from Illinois, was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Route 47 when it hit a car traveling northbound. 

The northbound car was driven by a 57-year-old male identified as Timothy Shride, from Oregon. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shride’s wife, who was a passenger in his car, was taken to Morris Hospital.

Viola was pronounced dead at the scene.  There was no one else in her car except her.

The crash is currently being investigated.
