Two killed after head-on car crash in Charlotte County

Two people were killed after a wrong-way driver on U.S. 41 hit another vehicle head-on, on Monday night.

It was around 8:30 p.m. when a pickup truck driven by a 46-year-old man from North Port was traveling south on the northbound left lane of U.S. 41 in Charlotte County when he crashed with a sedan heading north in the lane.

Both drivers were killed.

A 31-year-old man from Punta Gorda was driving the sedan.

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
