Two people were killed after a car crash involving six cars on I-94 close Mt. Elliott in Michigan on Saturday.
Officials said it happened at 2:25 a.m. when a Ford Fusion lost control and struck the center median on I-94. The Fusion was then back-ended by a Kia; turning the Fusion sideways and obstructing the freeway’s left lane.
The two people in the Fusion left the car and stood by the car. A Dodge Charger stopped at the scene to help.
A Jeep Liberty driving in the left lane fatally hit both individuals outside the Fusion and stopped against the car.
A black Kia SUV was driving through and sideswiped the Fusion and the Charger.
The SUV stopped at the median.
A GMC SUV also entered the scene and back-ended the Charger.
Police arrested the Jeep driver at the scene.
The Kia SUV driver was taken to the hospital pending medical treatment and a blood draw.
The man and woman, occupants of Fusion, were pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no other deaths or injuries.
Victims are yet to be identified.
The freeway was closed for 7 hours before it was reopened.
Michigan State Police is investigating the crash.
