Two killed after two-vehicle crash in Rialto

Two people were killed after one of them attempted to pass an 18-wheeler but instead struck another driver head-on in Rialto early Thursday morning.

The crash took place in the 3500 block of North Riverside Avenue, just before 3 a.m.

Officers discovered two vehicles at the scene, with both drivers suffering from life-threatening injuries.

22-year-old identified as Melissa Jacqueline Castillo, was pronounced dead at the scene.

31-year-old identified as Crystaline Joy Barile Bendo, succumbed to her injuries at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

Rialto Police Department investigated the crash.
