Two people were killed in a car crash on Friday in Cordova, Memphis, Tennessee.
A Memphis police officer has been relieved of duty at this moment following the crash.
Officials responded to the three-vehicle crash by 5:00 p.m. on Friday at Walnut Grove and Timber Creek Drive.
Investigators said the driver in a 2019 Dodge Charger was going eastbound at high speed when a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville pulled out of a private drive and the Charger struck into it.
Officials said the Bonneville split into two pieces, causing one piece to hit the third vehicle, a 2018 Ford F-150 which stopped in the westbound center turn lane.
Officials said the off-duty MPD officer was driving the Charger and was admitted to Regional One in non-critical condition.
The driver and the passenger in the Bonneville were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have been revealed as 19-year-old Travis Parham and 42-year-old Wallace Morris.
In a statement, Memphis Police said since the crash involved an off-duty officer, the officer has been routinely relieved of duty pending the result of the investigation.
